Hara or Chakra?

Usui Mikao's teachings focus on building the energy in the hara.

Once the system of Reiki became more westernised in the 1980s the chakra system

(an energetic system from India that has been incorporated into the New Age movement)

was introduced and replaced this system -

the chakra system is now commonly used in the West.

In traditional Japanese teachings and exercises today

the hara system is still the main focus for building a person's energy.

Because we wish to return to the Japanese roots of the system of Reiki we will focus our attention both personally and as teachers on a continuing development of understanding of the Hara.

As constant learners we continue to research the Chinese Meridian System, Qi Gong and

the Indian Chakra System. They all have much to offer. It was after all

these systems, or the influence of these systems that informed Usui,

This does not contradict what has already been taught.

The Chakra System is valid but is not part of Usui's teachings

or the traditions that followed.
